Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson is a British model and actress. She was born in Paris on April 15, 1990 as the daughter of two British lawyers. She lived in Paris until she was five, after which she moved with her brother Alex and her mother to Oxfordshire following her parents' divorce.
She studied acting, singing and dancing at Stagecoach Theatre Arts, a part time theatre school from the time she was six. By the time she was 10 she had performed in various school productions. In 1999, the film adaptation of the best selling novel Harry Potter and The Philosopher's Stoneby J.K. Rowling was about to take place and the producers needed someone to play the three main characters- Harry Potter, Hermione Granger and Ron Weasley. The agents in charge of casting found Watson thanks to her theatre teacher and after eight auditions she was cast for the role of Hermione Granger along with Daniel Radcliff (Harry) and Rupert Grint (Ron). The movie was released in 2001 and broke box office records for both opening day and opening weekend ticket sales and was the highest grossing film of 2001.
All together, she has starred in a total of six Harry Potter films, from 2001 to 2009 and is bound to return for the last two, scheduled to be released in November 2010 and July 2011. Other than the Harry Potter series Watson had a role in BBC's film "Ballet Shoesand" has lent her voice to Princess Pea in the animated children's movie "The Tale of Desperaux", also starring Matthew Broderick. In 2009 she was the face of Burberry's Autumn/Winter collection as well as their 2010 Spring/ Summer campaign.
She's very dedicated to school and has declined leaving it to become a full time actress. Instead she attends class at Brown University in Rhode Island, juggling her acting career and school at the same time.
